To find a restaurant which supplies both choice and quality for vegetarians is hard enough, but to find one which caters only to vegetarians and vegans and happens to be among Singapore's best restaurants seems more like a fantasy than an actuality. Not so at Original Sin. Named for Michelangelo's famous Sistine Chapel fresco, this sibling eatery of the much loved Michelangelo's is also located in the appealing district of Holland Village.
Original Sin, Singapore Fine Vegetarian Cuisine, Singapore Mediterranean Fine Dining in Singapore
Singapore's sole Mediterranean vegetarian eatery, it is rather fortunate to find that it isn't resting on its laurels, but is the sort of great place which will have any carnivore reevaluating their opinion of food without meat. Of course, Mediterranean cuisine disposes perfectly to vegetarian cookery.

It not only covers many regions from Spain to Italy, et al, but it makes use of all those wonderful Mediterranean herbs and ingredients, not to forget the many special techniques and variety of farinaceous delicacies which come together for a prolific array of dishes. Original Sin's wonderful menu is down to co-owner and culinary director, Marisa Bertocchi. Hailing from Adelaide in Australia, Marisa worked in many of the city's leading restaurants and hotels before heading to the exotic island-nation where she quickly earned praise for her vegetarian creations at Michelangelo's.
Beautifully Designed Vegetarian Dishes Food is Art at Original Sin in Singapore Mouth-watering and Visually Stunning Vegetarian Food in Singapore
It didn't take long for the one-time visual arts student to branch out into Original Sin. Her degree in visual arts forms part of her inspiration and diners can experience her creativity in both the design of the eatery and the cuisine. Food which arrives beautifully plated, as though each dish is an individual work of art.

As with the titular fresco, Original Sin is all about passion, love and the elements which lift life out of the realm of the mundane and make it something sumptuous and filled with promise. If it's one of those warm, sultry tropical islands nights, diners would do well to try and get a table outside under the vast sky of twinkling stars, although the dining room is equally inviting in its earthy tones and careful use of lighting.
Wherever you're sitting, it won't be long before all attention is given over to the food. Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain needs are all catered for and no matter which category you find yourself in, there are dishes to inspire the imagination and pamper the taste-buds. From Chef Bertocchi's delicious and well known moussaka, with its infusion of Middle Eastern spices, to the wonderfully textural and moreish risotto, there is something for every whim. The pizzas are something of local phenomenon, supplying crisp bases and a clever use of the finest fresh ingredients.

No matter whether you're popping in for a quick pizza and a glass of perfectly suited wine from the award-winning list, or are in for the full treatment and a fine dining experience without equal, don't forget to leave room for at least a sampling of dessert. If you tend towards the dark and rich, the Chocolate Mud Cake is de rigueur, while those who want a light note to round off the perfect meal might try the marvellous Tiramisu.
